Top star players, best value picks, and guys you should stay away from on January 29 in NBA DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Welcome to Studs, Scrubs, and Duds; FanSided’s NBA DFS lineup helper.

Here’s what’s on the slate for tonight:

7 p.m. ET: Chicago at Indiana
7:30 p.m. ET: Detroit at Brooklyn, Memphis at New York
8:30 p.m. ET: Utah at San Antonio
10 p.m. ET: Houston at Portland, Oklahoma City at Sacramento

How this works:

Studs: Top high salary picks that you can build your lineup around.
Scrubs: Value players looking for a big night or consistent options to help fill out your lineup.
Duds: Players to avoid given their high salary and/or poor matchup.

Five players are picked on each slide, positions are not applicable, and both DraftKings and FanDuel salaries are listed.

Studs

Damian Lillard (vs HOU – $10,500 on DK; $9,800 on FD): I’m not doubting Lillard anymore. I keep trying to find reasons to doubt him but he’s hell bent on carrying the Blazers into a playoff spot so I’m just going to let it ride. The Rockets defense is inconsistent but this is more about Lillard’s level of play. And he always raises his game against Westbrook.

Russell Westbrook (at POR – $10,400 on DK; $11,000 on FD): Speaking of Westbrook, he is on a roll right now and he’s been busting Lillard’s butt for years (according to him). If Harden is out, that’s even better for Westbrook’s value. But even if Harden plays, Westbrook has proven to be the better option in recent weeks for the Rockets.

Donovan Mitchell (at SA – $8,000 on DK; $7,600 on FD): Mitchell has been playing great and I fully expect the Jazz to bounce back in a strong way after that performance against the weakened Rockets. Mitchell is going to get his points in this matchup and I expect him to get his teammates going after the last game.

Buddy Hield (vs OKC – $7,100 on DK; $6,500 on FD): Hield has found his role off the bench and he always plays well against the Thunder. I’m honestly not sure I’ve ever seen him miss against the Thunder. The minutes and opportunities will continue to be there for him, even coming off the bench.

Danilo Gallinari (at SAC – $6,800 on DK; $6,200 on FD): Gallinari will bounce back after a rather pedestrian performance against the Mavericks. It’s a better matchup and the offense should be flowing for both teams. The return of Chris Paul would certainly help Gallinari’s game as well. He’s not going to hurt you in this matchup and the ceiling is high.
