Denver Nuggets

Sending out: Malik Beasley (MEM), Jarred Vanderbilt (IND), Juan Hernangomez (CHA)

Bringing in: Jae Crowder (MEM), Cleveland’s 2020 second-round pick (CHA)

Malik Beasley and Juan Hernangomez were big contributors on Denver’s bench last season but Hernangomez has been mostly replaced by Jerami Grant and Beasley, who is approaching restricted free agency, has really taken a step back as a finisher and with his overall efficiency. Here, Denver moves on from both and returns Jae Crowder, an increasingly limited role player who can defend multiple positions and offer opposing defenses at least something to think about from beyond the arc (in this case his reputation as a spacer is probably more important than his actual shooting percentages, currently at 32.0 percent over the last three seasons).

Crowder is a bigger wing and won’t be a perfect replacement for Beasley in the rotation but he’s an expiring contract and if he can move his feet enough to defend 2s regularly, could open more opportunities for Michael Porter Jr. Giving up Vanderbilt is not nothing either, given his impressive moments in the G League but the second-round pick Denver picks up here is likely to be in the low 30s which helps a bunch.
