Some quarterbacks are just primed to play well in the Super Bowl and Kansas CIty quarterback Patrick Mahomes falls into that category.

Patrick Mahomes has all the tangibles and intangibles necessary to win Super Bowl LIV (54).  He completes 2 out of every 3 pass attempts, is  just 598 yards away for smashing through the 10,000 passing yards barrier and his touchdown-to-interception ratio is 4.22-to-one.  (Mahomes has thrown 76 touchdowns and 18 interceptions as a starter for Kansas City.)

According to ESPN’s FFL PPR scoring system, Mahomes tied for fifth among quarterbacks in 2019 fantasy football scoring with Seattle’s Russell Wilson.  Despite missing two games due to injury, Mahomes averaged 20.5 fantasy points per game.

A new dimension in his game that appeared in the playoffs this year is Mahomes’ ability to run with the football.  He is not as fleet afoot as Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson but if opposing defenses leave the middle of the field uncovered, the Kansas City QB is willing to tuck the ball and run for valuable yardage.

In playoff games against Houston and Tennessee, he had 15 carries for 106 yards (a 7.1 yards per carry average) and one touchdown.  Mahomes has also thrown 8 touchdown passes with no interceptions during the playoffs.

According to ESPN’s FFL PPR scoring system, San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garopollo tied for No. 22 among quarterbacks in fantasy football scoring with Rams quarterback Jared Goff.  Garopollo averaged 15.5 fantasy points per game.

Garopollo’s job is to manage the 49ers offense under the guidance of head coach Kyle Shanahan.  Since San Francisco has the second most effective running game in the NFL, Garoppolo  has thrown just 27 passes and completed 17 in two playoff games this year.

But don’t let the 49ers lull you ro sleep with their ground game, because Garopollo has a strong arm and can surprise you with long completions to either tight end George KIttle or wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders.

ADVANTAGE – Kansas City Chiefs

Next. Cowboys need Ezekiel Elliott more involved in passing game. dark

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is primed to have a big game in Super Bowl LIV (54).  Mahomes has already proven this postseason he can lead his team from behind to victory.  It might be a nice change if the Chiefs led from the outset and won their first Super Bowl since 1970.
