The likelihood of Thielen having another down year in 2020 is not very probable. As long as he can remain healthy for the duration of a 16-game schedule which he has proven in the past, there is no reason to doubt his talents. Sure some may feel slightly apprehensive taking him so high in fantasy drafts this upcoming summer but I wouldn’t worry much.

Yes, Kirk Cousins can be an infuriating quarterback to depend upon but I think it’s more frustrating if you are someone who has Diggs on your roster rather than Thielen. You see, Cousins has traditionally favored throwing more to his slot receivers throughout his career. Jamison Crowder thrived with Cousins during their days together in Washington and the same can be said about Thielen.

In 2018, Thielen amassed 113 receptions for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns. That ranked him third, eighth, and eighth in those three categories respectively. Diggs, on the other hand, is more of the deep-threat option to Cousins and that isn’t his strong suit. He tends to like to throw the ball more over the middle which is where Thielen typically likes to run his routes.

All things considered, Thielen should be drafted roughly around where he was being selected last year. He should be taken somewhere between 30th and 40th overall which is in the third or early fourth-round area.

Take Thielen with confidence this offseason and know that whatever transpired this past year was just a fluke. Even the best sometimes hit a snag, but it usually doesn’t last very long. Should Thielen struggle again in 2020, then we will have another discussion about that in the future. For now, there shouldn’t be any major concerns for one of Minnesota’s finest.
