4. Defensive End Vic Beasley

The Kansas City Chiefs are without a doubt a strong offensive team, but their defense still has room for improvement. The rest of the list will focus on issues to address that unit, beginning with edge rusher.

The Chiefs already have a strong pass rushing presence in defensive end Frank Clark, but the spot opposite him could be upgraded. Emmanuel Ogbah was performing well before suffering a season ending injury, and he is also a pending free agent.

Terrell Suggs, who served as a decent fill in at age 37, is unlikely to return. Retaining Ogbah could make sense for the Chiefs, but they could strike real terror in opposing quarterbacks by signing former Falcons’ defensive end Vic Beasley.

Atlanta has opted not to retain Beasley, allowing the talented pass rusher to become a free agent. Beasley’s main issue was consistency, with a high of 15.5 sacks in 2016 but only five sacks in both 2017 and 2018.

The Falcons have used Beasley as their primary edge rusher, but he could be truly explosive opposite a player as talented as Clark. Some players also tend to benefit from a change of scenery, and escaping the mire of Atlanta’s up-and-down campaigns for a stable winner in Kansas City could bring out the best in Beasley.
