Carolina Panthers. Derrick Brown. 7. player. 87. . Defensive Tackle

The Carolina Panthers have made their decision when it comes to the head coach position, as they brought Matt Rhule out of the college ranks to  be their new man in charge. One other major decision they have to make this offseason is whether or not Cam Newton is their man under center, something that should play itself out over the next few months.

No matter what the Panthers do in terms of the quarterback position, they need help on both sides of the ball, especially up front along the defensive line. One player they could look to bring in is Derrick Brown from Auburn, who is undoubtedly the best defensive tackle this draft class has to offer.

The Panthers are losing a major piece on their defense this offseason, as future Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly decided to retire a few weeks back. With Brown, they can solidify a defensive line that is loaded with young talent, giving them what could be the missing piece they need on that side of the ball in an NFC South where getting into  the backfield is paramount.

Andrew Thomas. 8. player. 32. . Offensive Tackle. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals found their missing franchise quarterback this past NFL Draft, selecting Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray with the No. 1 overall pick. In his rookie season, Murray showed everyone that he can be an elite player despite his small stature, and was recently named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Now that they have their quarterback,  the Cardinals have to do things to protect him, and help him develop. While they could certainly add a wide receiver with this pick, they also need help along the offensive line, and could get immediate relief in the person of Andrew Thomas from Georgia.

This is a kid that many believe will be the best overall offensive tackle to come out of this draft class, and with him on the left side, Murray’s blindside could be protected for the next ten years. Due to his size, the Cardinals have to make sure they do everything they can to keep Murray upright, and Thomas is a great start in doing just that.
