Here are your 2020 Sports Oscars winners
Behold, the first annual FanSided Sports Oscars. Like the Oscars, but for sports.
The Super Bowl is over — congratulations to the winners — and March Madness is still at least a month away. But lest you think there isn’t anything sports-related to get mad about online this first week in February, let us direct your attention to the Oscars — the Sports Oscars that is.
Here at FanSided we love the Oscars. Over in the entertainment section, you’ll find all kinds of strong opinions on the subject all week long. But we also know that they can be a bit, well, inaccessible to people who spend every waking hour watching sports and not, you know, hunting down a screening of that Korean film — something about a bug?? — that everyone wants to win Best Picture.
Anyways: You don’t have time for it. But also, as fellow dwellers of the internet, we understand that you may want to understand the Oscar emotion seeping into your timeline all week and so we’ve created the Sports Oscars in the hopes of replicating some of the feelings of Oscar night for you, a sports fan.
Like the Oscars, the Sports Oscars recognize outstanding performances and technical achievements. Like the Oscars, the nominees are determined by a mysterious body of voters. There will be snubs. There will miscategorizations. But the feelings you feel — anger, confusion, indignation, validation, existential despair at the passage of time because how on Earth did that happen last year? — are the same feelings being felt by your film fan counterparts right now.
Here, then, the winners of the FanSided Sports Oscars.
