2020 NFL Draft: Matching offensive linemen to teams in the first round
Is this it? Could this be the draft where the Seattle Seahawks finally give Russell Wilson some blocking so he doesn’t have to run for his life every week?
Germain Ifedi is simply not working at right tackle. He’s been a disappointment since being a first-round pick in 2016, and the time is right to move on.
Tristan Wirfs would be a nice value pick if he fell this far. It’s likely some prospects will fall due to the stacked offensive line crop, and Wirfs would be a top-16 pick in previous years that had weaker tackle classes.
Wirfs is a right tackle for Iowa, but can play at left tackle in the NFL. He’s very strong, has good size and has been a great tackle for Iowa since starting as a freshman. His ceiling as a left tackle is extremely vast, even if he hasn’t played it at Iowa.
And if that doesn’t work, he still can be an exceptionally-talented right tackle which the Seahawks need for Week 1.
The only question for the Seahawks is would they be willing to move on from Ifedi?
