Boise State. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 30. Edge Rusher. Curtis Weaver. 2

In the second round, the Jets need to find a top edge rusher after getting help to protect Sam Darnold. It’s been quite some time since the Jets have had a pass-rusher, but it’s not for a lack of trying. Last decade, they invested a first-round pick in Quinton Coples, along with third-round selections of Jordan Jenkins and Jachai Polite. Here, they select edge rusher Curtis Weaver here in round two.

Weaver had an extremely productive three seasons at Boise State, logging 34 sacks, 47.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and two interceptions. He was rewarded with the Mountain West defensive player of the year award.

Weaver would fit in perfectly with this Jets defense. New York primarily runs a 3-4 under Gregg Williams, and at 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, he’s a perfect candidate to be a stand-up rusher in their defense.

Weaver is great at getting pressure on the quarterbacks, and he can get there in many ways. He shows some pretty solid bend for his size, and can be very quick off the snap attacking gaps. With Weaver and a developing Quinnen Williams, this defensive line is starting to take shape.
