DraftKings NBA picks February 8: Right said Fred
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA centers:
Best Bets:
Karl-Anthony Towns ($10,500): Towns has put up 120 DraftKings points in 71 minutes against the Clippers this season. Yeah, the Clippers are a good defensive team, but if Towns is locked in, they can’t handle him. Towns was upset that the Timberwolves dealt Covington, but all was apparently forgiven with the acquisition of Russell. Whether he plays or not, Towns is a strong play.
Nikola Jokic ($10,200): Jokic has averaged 53.8 DraftKings points in the three games against Phoenix this year. It was another triple-double for Jokic on Wednesday against Utah. This is a beleaguered Phoenix front with Baynes still down. As good as Ayton is getting, he still can’t handle Jokic when he’s rolling. Jokic has at least 69 DraftKings points in three straight. Yeah, he’s rolling.
Honorable Mention:
Deandre Ayton ($9,100): Ayton’s disappointing night hurt many last night, including myself. I was heavy on him. However, the Suns ran off with this game by the end of the first quarter. They were simply getting Ayton some rest so they can use him in full tonight. I like him to get back on track here, but given a choice, I would still take Towns or Jokic over him.
Serge Ibaka ($6,900): Ibaka has 77.5 DraftKings points in just 49 minutes against Brooklyn so far this year. Ibaka is a powder keg that’s going to blow tonight. Brooklyn has been the worst team as far as fantasy points allowed to centers in 2020 and Gasol is still out. This is a huge spot for Ibaka. I will have a lot of shares tonight.
Dark Horses:
Derrick Favors ($5,000): Most of the success for the Pelicans should come up front tonight. The Pacers can shut down guards, so I expect to see plenty of Favors. That said, he put up almost 30 DraftKings points on Chicago in less than 20 minutes. The low minutes are discouraging, but I think they’ll need Favors a little more tonight.
Thon Maker ($3,300): Please guys. Don’t play Thon. I like the low ownership. His 33.25 DraftKings points on the Thunder last night (at 17% ownership) make this price highway robbery. I’m not above taking advantage and you shouldn’t be either. No one else can provide close to this value. Thon may not hit 30 again, but he should still hit around 7x value. He will be in every lineup.
