DraftKings NBA picks February 9: Blazing that trail
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA Power Forwards:
Best Bets:
John Collins ($8,700): Collins seems to put up about the same numbers whether Trae is in the lineup or not. The good news is that Collins is almost always over 40 DraftKings points. He doesn’t have the upside that I want at this price due to what I would have to fade to take him tonight, but Collins remains one of the safer cash game plays.
Julius Randle ($8,500): Randle was a bit disappointing yesterday against Detroit, but he didn’t drop to a lineup-killing number. Still, I don’t really know what the upside is with Randle. It seems to me like it should be higher than it is. That alone usually keeps me off of him, but the matchups keep me coming back.
Honorable Mention:
Jaren Jackson ($5,800): This is a great matchup once again for Jackson against a Washington team that is still without Bryant. We all know how high the upside is with Jackson. I don’t think any of the new faces are really going to take any action from Jackson. He still seems to be a solid pick with big upside.
Davis Bertans ($5,500): Bertans has back to back games of 37 DraftKings points. He’s an expert marksman from behind the line, but Bertans is also successful on the boards and has as many minutes as he can handle with Bryant out. He really is the only one on my radar at the position in this price range. Bertans is another one of those guys that are too cheap tonight.
Dark Horses:
Brandon Clarke ($5,000): I am curious as to who Memphis will have active among their new acquisitions. While Jackson is safe, I’m not sure Clarke is. If nothing has chance since Friday, I like Clarke quite a bit in this matchup. If guys like Dieng and Bell are active, this is too risky.
Bobby Portis ($3,600): The Knicks need all the help they can get up front right now. Portis still does a whole lot with the little minutes he gets. Is that enough to throw him out there? It depends on how desperate you are for value. I have no faith in the Knicks to make the smart play.
