Third Round

92. 829. Scouting Report. Raekwon Davis. DL. Alabama Crimson Tide. player. Pick Analysis

Raekwon Davis put together an exceptional college career playing for Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. While opting to return to Tuscaloosa as a senior in 2019 didn’t ultimately pan out for him in the form of winning a national title, Davis accomplished a ton during his time starring on Alabama’s defensive line in the SEC.

Davis won a national title as a sophomore in 2017, arguably his best year in college, as he was named First-Team All-SEC. He won two SEC titles, those coming as a freshman and as a junior. Alabama made the College Football Playoff three times during his time in school. He earned spots on the All-SEC Second Team as an upperclassman in 2018 and 2019. Now, he’s ready to go pro.

Davis is a massive 6-foot-7, 312 pounds, who could be a matchup nightmare for any number of offensive linemen he comes across in the NFL. A big reason this big figure has seen his draft stock fall sets its zenith entering his junior season is a lack of production. After having 8.5 sacks as a sophomore in 2017, Davis managed to bring the opposing quarterback down 1.5 times since.

Overall, this is very much a boom-or-bust pick for the Ravens at pick No. 92 in the third round. Oftentimes, Alabama players have little tread left on the tires after Saban is done with them. That might be the case with Davis, but Baltimore does have a strong track record drafting Alabama stars dating back to Ozzie Newsome’s days running the front office. It’s worth a gamble here.
