4. DE Ziggy Ansah (Seattle Seahawks)

The Raiders have used the previous two drafts to add some much-needed youth to their defensive front. In 2018, the club used three selections – P.J. Hall, Arden Key and Maurice Hurst – when it came to this area. A year ago, Clemson defensive and Clelin Ferrell was the fourth-overall pick in the draft and the team struck gold with pass-rusher Maxx Crosby in the fourth round.

In terms of free agents, interior defender Johnathan Hankins joined the team in 2018 and proved to be a major asset. A year ago, the club added end Benson Mayowa and he finished second on the team behind Crosby with seven sacks. All told, the Raiders finished eighth against the run after allowing the third-most rushing yards in the league in ’18. And the club more than doubled its sack total (32) from the previous season (13).

Mayowa and Josh Mauro are amongst a group of four veterans on this unit who may not be back this year. Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, one-time Lions’ defensive end Ziggy Ansah spent this past year with the Seahawks and figures to be a lot healthier in 2020. He made 11 regular-season appearances for Pete Carroll’s club and in those contests finished with 18 stops, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pair of fumble recoveries while knocking down two passes. Does he enough left to spark a pass rush that still needs some help?
