1. A quarterback for the future

Replacing Tom Brady as the quarterback may well be an impossible task. That doesn’t mean New England’s front office shouldn’t try to make it as seamless a transition as possible.

Jarrett Stidham has some fans, but he hasn’t done nearly enough to lock the job as Brady’s successor down. That means New England needs to find him some meaningful competition in the offseason.

The draft will almost certainly be the place where Belichick looks to fill this need. It won’t necessarily be with a high pick though. It’s not as if Brady was a first rounder. Don’t be shocked if the Patriots zero in on a guy they like in Day 3 and bring him in to battle with Stidham during the preseason.

If Brady does leave, the team will need to look for a veteran to take his place. The idea of Belichick trying to bring Jacoby Brissett back to Foxborough will get a lot of immediate traction if Brady does bolt. Perhaps a trade with the Colts select a quarterback early in the draft?

Taysom Hill is another player who could really appeal to Belichick’s penchant for acquiring match-up nightmares for the opposition.
