The 2020 NFL offseason has begun and teams are already making key decisions. Here are the top tight ends that could hit the open market on March 18.

When the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs squared off in Super Bowl LIV, it was a meeting between a pair of All-Pro tight ends in George Kittle and Travis Kelce. The former garnered 33 of the Associated Press’ 50 votes and earned First-Team honors. Kelce wound up with the other 17 votes and “settled” for Second-Team honors.

Of course, neither one of those stars is on this list of potential unrestricted free agents when it comes to this vital position. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some quality performers that could hit the open market at 4:00 pm ET on March 18.

So far there’s been a look at the quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers who could become UFAs in a little over a month. And now there’s at least five tight ends that should warrant some big-time interest if they are available.

5. Darren Fells (Houston Texans)

For the vast majority of his career, he’s been known as one the better blocking tight ends in the league. But in 2019, Darren Fells enjoyed a career year when it came to catching the football and proved to be a major addition for the Houston Texans. Quarterback Deshaun Watson was bailed out more than a few times by the 6-foot-7, 270-pound target.

Fells finished the year with 34 receptions, good for 341 yards. And his seven touchdown grabs was tied for the team lead with wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. And he added seven catches for 59 yards and one score in the playoff split with the Buffalo Bills and Chiefs.

The six-year pro has suited up for the Cardinals, Lions, Browns and Texans. Could he join a fifth different team this offseason?
