2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Rivers moving his family from California to Florida added to the speculation about his future, and Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports quickly passed along buzz about the Buccaneers as a possible landing spot. Of course that fit depends on the team’s decision on fellow looming Jameis Winston, but there’s a case for them to embrace Rivers as a welcome change.

Bruce Arians continually tried to talk himself into Winston last year, but the lack of a viable backup meant Tampa Bay was stuck with him barring a serious injury. With plenty of options out there in free agency this offseason, including one Tom Brady right now, the Buccaneers don’t have to settle for Winston as their starting quarterback.

Coming off a rough season where he struggled with turnovers, and accounting for his age, Rivers might just be at the end of his run as anything close to an upper tier quarterback.. But he was very good in 2018 (4,308 yards, 32 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 8.5 yards per attempt), when the Chargers went 12-4, and Tampa Bay can surround him with high-end weapons, a head coach who is something of a quarterback whisperer and an offensive style that would seem to suit him.
