2020 NFL mock draft: Los Angeles Chargers replace Philip Rivers
By Brad Weiss
The Philadelphia Eagles won the NFC East this past season, a division it seemed like nobody wanted to win down the stretch. They are able to take care of business against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants in the final two weeks to lock up the division, but their playoff run was short-lived.
Quarterback Carson Wentz suffered a concussion early in the team’s Wild Card round loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and while Josh McCown played admirably, it was not enough. As they turn the page to 2020, they have their issues on both sides of the ball, and bringing in an elite cornerback talent is certainly one of them.
Enter C.J. Henderson, who has some stellar moments during his career at Florida, an could be a shutdown cornerback at the next level. He took away half the field during his time with the Gators, an on this Eagles defense, he would fill in one of the bigger voids they have, and that is being able to stop the pass.
The Buffalo Bills were a team that just kept on winning during the 2019 season, finishing the year as the No. 5 seed in the AFC. They have the talent on both sides of the ball to be a perennial contender for a playoff spot in the conference, and they got good play from quarterback Josh Allen in Year No. 2.
Like the Raiders, the Bills have a glaring hole atop their depth chart at wide receiver, and that is the area they need to address this April. Luckily for them, this is one of the deeper wide receiver draft classes we have seen in a long time, and they get a playmaker here in Colorado’s Laviska Shenault Jr.
This kid is going to be a monster at the NFL level, with the uncanny ability to work his way open and make big plays downfield. Additionally, he was one of the elite return men in college football during his time with the Buffaloes, and on a Bills team that needs weapons, he would be a perfect selection.
