2020 NFL mock draft: Los Angeles Chargers replace Philip Rivers
By Brad Weiss
The Vikings played well enough to earn a Wild Card berth in 2019, and then went on the road and beat a very tough New Orleans Saints team to advance to the Divisional Round. Unfortunately, their run would end there against the San Francisco 49ers.
Looking at this roster heading into 2020, there is a lot to like. Plus, quarterback Kirk Cousins has proven he can win a tough road game in the playoffs. However, they have some deficiencies on defense that must be addressed, including getting better in the secondary. Specifically at cornerback.
Kristian Fulton from LSU is one of the better cornerbacks in this draft class, and he would fill an immediate need on this Vikings defense. The Vikings have enough talent on both sides of the ball to get back to the playoffs this season, but unless they improve in the secondary, they will never reach the ultimate goal.
With their third and final selection in the first round , the Dolphins stay on the offensive side of the ball. After drafting their franchise quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa at No. 5, and then a speedy wideout at No. 18, they finish up by bringing in a cornerstone left tackle with pick No. 26.
Jackson is one of the better offensive tackles in this draft class, and that is saying a lot, considering there is a ton of first-round talent at the position this year. He has the ability to play on both sides of the line and in Miami, he would slide right in as blindside protection.
Look for the Dolphins to make a big jump over last season, as the front office will be trying to win games in 2020 and not selling off assets. The New England Patriots have a lot of question marks heading into next season, and Miami could be a team that really surprises some people if they can hit the jackpot on their early draft picks.
