4. Carolina Panthers

There are plenty of teams with unstable quarterback situations in the NFL, with Carolina ranking near the top of the list. The Panthers have a former MVP on their roster in Cam Newton, but he has been absolutely wrecked by injuries the past few years.

Newton has looked like a shell of himself since the middle of the 2018 season, and he only played in two games this year before going down with a recurring shoulder injury. With a new head coach coming to town in Matt Rhule, the opportunity is there to go for a fresh start at the position.

The Panthers could look to trade Newton to a team looking for a short term answer at the position, like the Chicago Bears, and acquire some draft capital that way. The extra picks would give the Panthers the ammunition to make a run at Prescott, who would be a spectacular fit in their offense.

Carolina could well replicate the formula that Prescott currently has in Dallas, featuring an all-world running back in Christian McCaffrey as well as talented receivers like D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel. Putting Prescott under center would offer some serious long term stability at the position for the Panthers, who aren’t that far away from contending in the NFC South.

The edge the Panthers have on New England is that their draft pick resides in the top 10, sitting seventh overall. That pick would be part of a big package the Panthers would have to send to Dallas for Prescott, but it would be well worth it in the end.
