4. Jordan Phillips

Out of all the players on this list, the one name you may be completely unfamiliar with is Jordan Phillips. Hopefully, you will soon understand why he is one of the best defensive linemen on the free-agent market.

Phillips didn’t contribute much during the first four years of his career. Drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Dolphins, he had 5.5 sacks in 60 games played.

The 27-year-old then landed up in Buffalo during the 2018 season. In 2019, he had a career season, as he played 16 games and led the team with 9.5 sacks for a stout defense. He was tied for first on the Bills with 13 tackles for loss and his 16 quarterback hits ranked second.

The tough sell with Phillips is there will probably be some timid general managers who don’t want to hand out an expensive, multi-year deal after one good campaign. Spotrac.com has set his market value a tick over $6 million a year with a contract comparable to a player such as Michael Brockers.

Even then, the price isn’t that high.
