The Steelers round out the draft in rounds six and seven. We talked earlier about the cornerback position enjoying a resurgence in Pittsburgh in 2019, but more help needs to be added. Joe Haden has played well the past couple seasons, but he’s now 30 and won’t be a long-term solution. Steven Nelson also looked good in 2019, but there’s no guarantee for 2020.

Adding someone like Stanford Samuels III here late is a good option. Samuels is a taller, longer corner at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, and excels in zone coverage, where he will operate if he indeed heads to Pittsburgh. He needs to fill out his frame more and be a more physical tackler, but Samuels offers plenty of potential this late in the draft.

The Steelers end their draft by selecting a tight end. Vance McDonald didn’t have a big 2019 season, and despite Pittsburgh trading for Nick Vannett, there’s more work to be done at the position. Devin Asiasi is gaining more hype in draft circles as a receiving tight end who works well up the seam in vertical offenses. He should test very well come the combine, and would be a great addition to the Steelers offense and to help out Roethlisberger.
