When gauging the free-agent prospects for the Washington Redskins, it would be only natural to take a look at some members of the Carolina Panthers who could become available. Ron Rivera spent eight-plus seasons in Charlotte and certainly has some thoughts on who could help his team. One player could be tackle Daryl Williams, although that may be somewhat unlikely considering that team would likely sign or franchise the talented blocker.

And add in the fact that Rivera and disgruntled left tackle Trent Williams – who did not play in 2019 – have had some recent positive discussions (via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport). Will the seven-time Pro Bowler be a part of this team in 2020? It’s an important question to needs an answer sooner than later.

Speaking of one-time Panthers and now a one-time member of the ‘Skins, the released of cornerback Josh Norman (via NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo) will save the club some money. So could Rivera turn to a very familiar face to replace him in the Washington secondary? A second-round pick by the Panthers in 2016, he played and started in 60 regular-season contests for the franchise. He totaled eight interceptions and combined for an impressive 47 passes defensed in four seasons in Charlotte.

This was a Washington team that surrendered a whopping 35 touchdown passes in ’19 – three or more aerial scores in eight of their 16 outings.
