2. WR Phillip Dorsett (New England Patriots)

There were some who felt that Washington Redskins’ wide receiver Terry McLaurin deserved some NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year consideration. But he did not earn a single vote from the 50-person panel. The third-round pick from Ohio State led the club with 58 catches, good for 919 yards and seven scores. He gave the club a big-play option and provided former Buckeyes’ teammate Dwayne Haskins with a familiar target once the latter took over at quarterback.

The team’s second-leading receiver from the wideout position was Steven Sims. The undrafted rookie free agent from the University of Kansas totaled 34 catches for 310 yards and was second on the club with four scoring receptions. He also led the team in kickoff return yardage (819) and was a hot receiver down the stretch. In the club’s final three games, Sims was targeted 29 times and totaled 16 grabs for 190 yards and the aforementioned four TDs.

This is a Redskins’ squad with a lot of young wide receivers in not only McLaurin and Sims but two-year pro Trey Quinn and 2019 sixth-round pick Kelvin Harmon. Six-year pro Paul Richardson has spent the last two seasons with the team but could the team look to make a change via one-time Colts’ first-round pick Phillip Dorsett? He’s spent the past three seasons with the Patriots and caught 29 passes in ’19 – five for scores.
