1. G Quinton Spain (Buffalo Bills)

What to make of the offensive line of the Washington Redskins? Seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams was a no-show last season. When he did return to the club after a holdout, he reportedly failed a physical and was placed on injured reserve. Veteran Donald Penn made 15 starts in his place, with second-year pro Geron Christian in the opening lineup once. As previously mentioned, Williams and the team could be making some progress while Penn is slated to become an unrestricted free agent.

Such is the case as well for Ereck Flowers and two-time Pro Bowler Brandon Scherff. The former was a first-round disappointment at tackle for the New York Giants but made 16 starts this past season at left guard for his newest team. As for Scherff, the fifth-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft was in the lineup in every game his first two seasons in the league. But the talented pro has missed a total of 15 contests the past three seasons combined.

Still, it would not be a surprise to see the Redskins slap the franchise tag on Scherff. But even if that’s the case, the club could use some help at guard. It’s worth noting that 2019 fourth-round pick Wes Martin did make five starts at right guard in place of Scherff. Could he make the switch to the left side should Flowers not return?

Quinton Spain was a 16-game starter for the playoff-bound Buffalo Bills this past season. He could become available on March 18 if that franchise opts to go in a different direction. Would he be an option for Rivera and Co.?
