Looking at the projections and their past performances, these are the only two second basemen worth putting in the top tier and should be drafted before the other 28.

Gleyber Torres, NYY

Torres had a great rookie season, hitting .271 with 24 home runs and 77 RBIs. He followed it up with an even better sophomore season. The then-22-year-old hit .278 with 38 homers and 90 RBIs over 144 games.

With the loss of Didi Gregorius, Torres will move over to shortstop while keeping second base eligibility. We could see Torres hit 40-plus home runs with 100 RBIs. The only negative to his fantasy value is the lack of speed.

Jose Altuve, HOU

Altuve had an interesting season last year. He hit for a career-high 31 home runs with 74 RBIs but saw his batting average dip below .300. Altuve also stole just six bases compared to the 32 he stole in 2017. As a result, he was the No. 10 second baseman at the end of the year.

Entering this season, he is the top second baseman to draft. Whether he continues on this path of high power or goes back to 2017 with a 22 HR/30 SB/.330 line, Altuve will still contribute to the majority of hitting categories.

This was an interesting position to rank. The top-10 are great players that will give you lots of production throughout the season., After that, though, it’s a bit of a risk. The next position up is third base.
