4. Wide Receiver

At wide receiver, the Broncos have Courtland Sutton and, well, not much else.

Fellow 2018 draft pick DaeSean Hamilton started to come on at the end of the 2019 season when the Broncos made the switch to Drew Lock at quarterback. Unfortunately, the Broncos can’t really bank their hopes on potential if superior alternatives present themselves, and that is a likelihood.

Over the last two years, the Broncos traded their former 1,000-yard duo in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders for a third-round pick and two fourth-round picks. Both Thomas and Sanders will be free agents this offseason, but the Broncos will continue to look to get younger at the position.

The 2020 NFL Draft class at wide receiver is one of the best we’ve ever seen. There could be upwards of seven or eight players selected in round one, and plenty more in the top 100 picks overall.

This position should unquestionably be in play for the Broncos in the first round and one thing the Broncos need to specifically focus on is adding speed at this position.

Because of the difficulty of transitioning from college to the pros at this particular position, it would be surprising if the Broncos didn’t have their eyes on free-agent Robby Anderson or a possible trade for someone like Stefon Diggs in addition to the 2020 NFL Draft.
