3. Address the wide receiving corps

While Amari Cooper is one of the bigger names on the potential free-agent market come March 18, he’s actually one of three veteran wide receivers for the Cowboys who will see their contracts expire in less than a month.

The talented performer was acquired from the Raiders via trade during the 2018 midseason. And the fourth-overall pick in the ’15 NFL Draft developed an immediate rapport with quarterback Dak Prescott. He played in nine regular-season games with his new employer and finished with 53 catches for 725 yards and six scores. Cooper hauled in 15 balls for 181 yards and one touchdown in the playoff split with the Seahawks and Rams.

This past year, the productive four-time Pro Bowler led the club in receptions (79), receiving yards (1,189) and touchdown grabs (8) as a 16-game starter for the first time in his brief career. But he, one-time Packers’ standout Randall Cobb and wideout/punt return specialist Tavon Austin can all hit the market soon.

Yes, the Cowboys do have quite the talented pro in Michael Gallup, who totaled 1,107 yards on 66 catches (16.8 average) and found the end zone six times. Re-signing Cooper would seem to be a priority but where does he stand on the waiting list? And could McCarthy want Cobb to come back to Dallas for a second season?
