4. New York Giants

Current cap space: $61,282,080

Recently, it has been a gloomy slog for the New York football Giants. Since the two Super Bowl wins in five years, there has been a lot of losing football for the one of the sport’s more iconic franchises.

Of course, there has been roster and coaching turnover too. Three head coaches have been fired since 2015, a new general manager has been brought in, Eli Manning has retired and handed the reigns to Daniel Jones, and now Joe Judge is tasked with bringing big blue back to relevancy.

Well, here’s a simple way to help Judge. Sign Clowney.

Defensively, the Giants were abysmal for most of the time last season. They surrendered the third-most points (451), eight-most yards (6,037) and couldn’t finish in the backfield.

Through the air, the Giants were exploited all season. Yes, more of that is on the secondary, but some of that burden belongs to the pass rush not disrupting the opposing quarterback enough.

This unit finished the season with 36 sacks and 56 hurries. Both were towards the bottom portion of the league in their respective category. Although, oddly enough, they had the sixth-highest total of quarterback knockdowns (55), and their 147 pressures were top-15 in the league.

Dave Gettleman has dealt too much talent in the past few years, and it’s time he started to recoup some of what he has lost. Clowney would be a nice start to that job.
