NBA FanDuel: Top targets for February 20th – Don’t Freak out
By Shaun Evans
NBA Fanduel – Shooting Guards
Top Tier: Zach LaVine versus Charlotte Hornets ($9,200)
Obviously James Harden is a great option to pay for but with his salary price, Zach LaVine seems like the better option for this slate. He comes in with a usage rating of 31% while averaging 1.15 fantasy points per minute. LaVine finished the first half of the season with two strong performances of 48.2 and 58.8 fantasy points. He did have a down performance with his last outing versus Charlotte as he only put up 12 points with eight rebounds and two assists.
Charlotte hasn’t had the best defense versus shooting guards this season as they rank on the lower end of rankings. They currently allow opposing shooting guards to average 22 points, six rebounds and six assist per game. They were able to shut down LaVine the first time around but with his hand being hot, we should see value exceeded.
Mid Tier: Buddy Hield versus Memphis Grizzlies ($5,700)
Fresh off of his three point contest win over the All Star break, Buddy Hield is looking to prove this Sacramento front office wrong for benching him. Hield is projected to reach 31.9 Fanduel points tonight with a ceiling of 53.8. He is also averaging 32.3 Fanduel points per game while averaging .96 Fanduel points per minute. He does get to face a Memphis defense that lacks a bit against guards.
Memphis is currently allowing opposing shooting guards to average 26 points, six rebounds and four assist per game. They are also allowing them to average three three-pointers per game also. We know Hield has a hot hand and if his three’s start falling, Memphis will be in for a long night. Also at $5,700, Buddy Hield seems like a steal with the momentum he gained during the All Star weekend.
Low Tier: Bruce Brown versus Milwaukee Bucks ($3,800)
Another risk play for the salary space is Bruce Brown who gets to face the new proud owners of the East, the Milwaukee Bucks. Now this play could come in slightly better in terms of ownership over Shaquille Harrison so if you rather save in the shooting guard position, Brown is the man. Now he’s only averaging nine points, four rebounds, and four assist per game but he’s averaging 23.3 Fanduel Points also. Easy money at $3,800.
This Milwaukee Bucks defense though is only giving up 23 points, six rebounds and five assist to opposing starting point guards. The Detroit Pistons look to be healthy to kick off the second half of the season but Bruce Brown is still averaging 27.9 minutes per game with a lower usage rate of just 16%.
Other Options: James Harden ($11,000), Khris Middleton ($6,800), Dillon Brooks ($4,900)
