Third base has been the deepest position for fantasy baseball and this year is no different. You have your pick of the litter when looking for a starter.

Drafting a productive third baseman for your fantasy baseball team may be the easiest thing you can do. The position is so deep that you could wait a few rounds before you draft a starter. This means you can fill up the scarce positions first without having to worry.

Third base has been one of the deeper positions for years. With the likes of Alex Bregman, Nolan Arenado and Kris Bryant along with the up-and-comers, fantasy owners have been spoiled with the talent at this position.

Depending on your position in the draft and how you want to build your team, you’ll likely draft a third baseman in the second round. Bregman may be the only first-round pick but there are three or four names that will be drafted in the second round.

Then again, you could build up outfield, middle infield and starting pitching and then draft your third baseman in the 10th round when Josh Donaldson or Mike Moustakas is available. Either way, you’re left with a great third baseman and room to improve the rest of your team.

Unlike my rankings in year’s past, this list is going to include players that qualify at third base, based on ESPN’s fantasy baseball requirements. That means each player has to have played at least 20 games at the position in the prior season. This will be the same for every other position going forward.

I have ranked 30 third basemen and broke them into five tiers. There wasn’t enough to differentiate some players to make a sixth tier as I did with first base. Most fantasy owners will two third baseman, a starter and a backup. Going past 30 wouldn’t make much sense, especially when the top eight or 10 options are stars.

So, with that out of the way, let’s get this slide show started. Here are my 2020 fantasy baseball tiered rankings for third base.
