Chelsea face Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Here’s all the info you need to watch this Champions League match.
The Champions League round of 16 continues on Tuesday with Chelsea hosting Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge. The Blues finished second behind Valencia in the group stage while Bayern were the only team in the group stage to win all six of their games.
Chelsea are fourth in the Premier League, fighting to stay ahead of Manchester United and Tottenham for the final Champions League spot. The Blues played United and Spurs in their last two games. Chelsea lost 2-0 to United but rebounded to beat Tottenham 2-1 over the weekend. Tammy Abraham is having the best season of his career, leading Chelsea with 15 goals in all competitions. While Chelsea have been a strong offensive team, they have struggled to defend. In 33 games between the Premier League and Champions League, the Blues have conceded 46 goals. With N’Golo Kante out with an injury, Chelsea’s center-backs will be left vulnerable against Bayern’s aggressive attack.
Bayern Munich are first in the Bundesliga, chasing their eighth straight championship. Manager Hans-Dieter Flick has done an incredible job since taking over. Bayern are unbeaten since Dec. 11, picking up 31 of 33 points. Robert Lewandowski is having one of the best seasons of any player in Europe. The Polish striker has 38 goals in all competitions, including 10 goals in the group stage. If Lewandowski can score on Tuesday, it will go a long way in helping Bayern advance to the quarterfinals for the ninth time in the past 11 seasons. If Bayern have one weakness it is their back four. Lucas Hernandez is still getting up to speed after missing several months with an injury.
