3. A.J. Green

The Saints’ offense was prolific in 2019, but they need to find another capable wide receiver to play opposite Michael Thomas. That didn’t impact Thomas’ production in 2019 when he was named the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year, but having a proven target opposite Thomas would certainly make it harder for other teams to double team him.

A young ascending star like Robby Anderson would work nicely in New Orleans, but his price tag will likely soar outside of the Saints’ range. The good news is that since the Saints are a contender proven veterans will likely take a discount for a shot at a Super Bowl ring.

One guy who fits this bill is A.J. Green, who missed all of last season after injuring his foot in training camp. Green has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals, but he has made it clear he wants to play for a winner.

The injury situation could leave Green looking for a one-year prove-it deal, and there aren’t many better situations for him to land in than New Orleans. Green, who was great with Andy Dalton throwing him passes, could hit another level with Drew Brees under center.

The Saints would love to take a flyer on getting 80 percent of Green, who is only two years removed from catching 75 passes for 1,078 yards with eight touchdowns. If Green can come close to replicating those numbers the Saints would be a much more dynamic offensive team.
