Las Vegas Raiders – Draft Jordan Love

The Raiders are in a similar spot to the Chargers. They are heading to a glistening new stadium, and in their case a new city, and want to maximize the excitement.

A 2019 season that saw Mike Mayock’s first draft class excel should help. At quarterback, though, Derek Carr doesn’t seem like the type to generate widespread hype in Vegas.

Love is a long way from a perfect prospect. He demonstrated baffling decision-making at many points during his days at Utah State, displaying a maddening tendency to throw into traffic.

Yet his skill set is conducive to NFL success. Love has a massive arm and can deliver with velocity and touch. He has the mobility to escape pressure and make throws on the run and can make plays with his legs.

Let’s be clear, Love is not Patrick Mahomes, but he is talented enough as a runner to move the chains with his legs like Mahomes so crucially did in the Super Bowl.

His upside is much greater than that of Carr and, by drafting him, the Raiders can generate even more buzz around their move to Vegas and have a successor in place for a quarterback that has always seemed a bad fit with head coach Jon Gruden.
