This week, the XFL presents the DFS community with a four game DraftKings XFL slate. Let’s take a look at this week’s game slate from a fantasy football perspective!

In this article, I will discuss my DraftKings XFL player selections with regard to position. It should be noted that I am not providing a specific lineup. However, I am providing Draftkings player options at each position in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup.

Quarterback

Phillip Walker-Houston Roughnecks $12,000

DraftKings is finally recognizing that Phillip Walker is clearly the best player in the XFL. The result is that Draftkings has listed Walker as the highest priced player on this week’s slate at a price of a whopping $12,000. Is that a high price. Absolutely. Is Walker worth that high price? Yes, no doubt about it!

Through three weeks of the XFL season, Walker has 748 passing yards (67 completions/106 attempts /63.2% completion percentage) and 10 passing touchdowns. Those outstanding statistics just noted translate into an overall current quarterback rating of 112.0! It should be noted that Walker is the current league leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and overall quarterback rating!

This week, the Roughnecks draw a Dallas Renegades defense that just allowed Seattle quarterback Brandon Silvers to pass for 204 yards and two passing touchdowns in week two. Obviously, Houston quarterback Phillip Walker is an exponential jump in overall quarterback talent and ability. That is clearly NOT good news for the Dallas Renegades secondary.

Additionally, I should note that the Houston defense has certainly had issues stopping offenses as well this season. The relevant point here is that I envision a game script where Dallas quarterback Landry Jones finds a certain amount of success marching his team’s offense down the field this week. The end result will be that Phillip Walker will need to continue to stay in a passing mode for the majority of this week’s contest. That is what we want from a fantasy football perspective!

Additional quarterbacks I like this week:

  • Josh Johnson-Los Angeles Wildcats $10,200
  • Landry Jones-Dallas Renegades $9,800

Running Back

Martez Carter-Los Angeles Wildcats $5,200

Wildcats running back Elijah Hood was a surprising late scratch from the team’s week three contest versus the DC Defenders. The absence of Hood from the Wildcats lineup in week three opened up the door for L.A. running back Martez Carter. Let’s just say that Carter did not walk through that door of opportunity, he frankly slammed it down!

Carter finished the week three contest with three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) and 75 total offensive yards from scrimmage. Carter’s game statistics translated into 30.5 Draftkings points! I have a strong feeling that the Wildcats coaching staff will make sure that Martez Carter continues to get substantial playing time in week four.

Additional running backs I like:

  • Lance Dunbar-Dallas Renegades $6,700
  • DeVeon Smith-Tampa Bay Vipers $6,100

Wide Receiver

Donald Parham-Dallas Renegades $ 9,900

First of all, it has to be said that Donald Parham is a massive presence on the football field. More specifically, the former Stetson tight end is 6-foot-8-inches tall and 240 pounds! Yes, the man is big! However, he is also an outstanding football player. After watching all of the XFL games through week three of the season, in my opinion, Parham is without a doubt the best tight end in this league.

Let’s take a look at Parham’s recent production on the field to better shed light on his outstanding play. In the Renegades last two games, Donald Parham has compiled 10 receptions and added 177 receiving yards. Additionally, in that two game span just noted, Parham has been targeted by Dallas quarterback Landry Jones a whopping 18 times.

This week, Dallas draws a Houston defense that has been frankly awful defending the pass this season. Through the first three games of the XFL season, the Houston defense has allowed 742 passing yards and five passing touchdowns to opposing offenses. I think Donald Parham has the chance to be the highest scoring receiver on this week’s four game slate!

  • Cam Phillips-Houston Roughnecks $11,700
  • Jalen Tolliver-Tampa Bay Vipers $6,000
  • Jordan Smallwood-Los Angeles Wildcats $6,700  *L.A. WR Nelson Spruce has been ruled out. Smallwood should see an uptick in targets due to Spruce’s absence from the lineup.

Defense

Los Angeles Wildcats $4,500

The Wildcats defense erupted in the team’s week three victory over the DC Defenders! Let me be more specific. The Los Angeles Wildcats defense forced five turnovers (four interceptions, one defensive fumble recovery) and sacked DC Defenders quarterback Cardale Jones three times. The Wildcats defense finished week three’s contest with an impressive 17 Draftkings points.

This week, the Wildcats will face a New York Guardians offense that can’t seem to get out of it’s own way. I think the Wildcats defense has a great chance to replicate the team’s outstanding week three performance!

As always, good luck this week!
