Yannick Ngakoue

Yannick Ngakoue is going to be a coveted piece on the free agent market now that it seems all but certain that the Jacksonville Jaguars are letting him go. The team is saying differently in the media, but do you expect them to say they have no interest in one of their players? It just seems like the pass rusher priced himself out of the Sunshine State.

The Cardinals need another pass rusher to go along with Chandler Jones. Jones is quietly one of the best sack artists in the game, with 49 sacks in the last three years. Ngakoue hasn’t sacked the QB at that clip, but he hopes to get to that point soon.

However, he has floated the idea that he could get paid like someone who’s taking down quarterbacks at will. Word on the street is he wants $22 million per season, which is an insane number for Ngakoue. We don’t see any team coming close to that number, but the Cardinals could still outpace the market. As long as a team like Indianapolis, which seems to have unlimited money this offseason, doesn’t reset the market, the Cardinals should be in this all the way.

Ngahoue would take double teams away from Jones, or at least make teams think twice about it. We see him playing on a team with this defensive line and an explosion of sacks and QB hurries on the horizon. If Kliff Kingsbury can get the most out of his offense and stack his defense with talent, they could theoretically make a massive jump in the standings next season.
