1. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers’ decision to move on from Philip Rivers was a bit shocking. Despite his age, Rivers is still an effective quarterback and has been the face of the franchise for years. We typically see those type of icons treated a little differently.

However, the situation has now created a completely open starting quarterback job. The Chargers have plenty of options in front of them. They could decide to utilize the No. 5 pick in the NFL Draft to bring in a new face of the franchise.

Another option would be to attack the surprisingly strong free agent market. Los Angeles could target players like Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Tom Brady or Marcus Mariota.

Focusing on Mariota could show that the Chargers are likely to avoid taking a quarterback early in this year’s draft. They already have Tyrod Taylor on the roster to serve as a veteran mentor for a rookie.

The addition of Mariota would give the Chargers two veteran quarterbacks who can compete for the starting job. If there’s interest from the Chargers, this could be Mariota’s best chance at landing starting job for next year.

It would represent a good situation based on the talented playmakers on the Chargers’ roster.
