Round 1, Pick 4: Jedrick Wills Jr., OT, Alabama

The Giants need help everywhere, but with that first pick, they need to go offensive line in a tackle-heavy draft. They are paying Nate Soldier $19 million, by far the highest-paid player on the team. Still, they need to protect their biggest asset in Daniel Jones, and Jedrick Wills is the best of a really good bunch of tackles.

Willis was already playing right tackle for Nick Saban at Alabama, so he could easily just slot in there while he learned how to play left from Soldier. Obviously, when Soldier signed his massive contract, he knew there’d be a target on his back. Now, the Giants are going to draft his eventual replacement.

Some experts aren’t sold on Wills, but we’ve seen the Giants go off the beaten path for a player they want before. There are left tackles in this draft that one could argue for, but the fact he’s playing the biggest position of need, along with the fact he’s willing to grow as a tackle and play both sides will woo Dave Gettleman.

Honestly, we really just think the Giants are going to trade out of the pick. It makes perfect sense. There are two very intriguing quarterbacks in Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert. The most likely option is a team giving the Giants more picks to move up and take their quarterback of the future.
