2020 NFL Draft: New York Giants 7-round mock
By Nick Villano
Round 4, Pick 100: J.R. Reed, S, Georgia
I would love for the Giants to get a cornerback here but there really aren’t any even close to worth this pick. That’s likely a position the Giants need to fix in free agency and then they can go after other defensive liabilities in the draft. J.R. Reed is an interesting safety, coming from a known commodity program in Georgia, he is a ball hawk in the truest sense of the word and his instincts are second to none.
Round 5, Pick 132: Stanford Samuels, CB, Miami
Yes, the Giants should get a cornerback in free agency, but they should also go for a high-upside choice in the NFL Draft. Stanford Samuels is the son of a former NFL cornerback who ended up playing most of his career in Canada. Samuels started his career at Florida State but transferred to Miami after his junior season. He might have some issues with penalties as he tries to overcome a talent discrepancy, but his ability to get physical at the line can disrupt a team’s game plan.
Round 6, Pick 164: Cam Brown, LB, Penn State
When looking for linebackers, one must go to Penn State to see who’s great. Linebacker U has produced some of the greats, and if one falls to the sixth round, it’s time to grab him. Cam Brown was a team captain, whose massive size is going to get scouts attention. Yet, he’s being projected around pick 150-175. If he’s here, the Giants need to take him, loading up on defensive pieces to put together a great future for Joe Judge.
Round 7, Pick 196: Keisean Lucier-South, OLB, UCLA
Two linebackers in a row? The Giants are going to jump on Keisean Lucier-South out of UCLA in the final round of the draft. He’s fallen considerably because of an injury-riddled season with a bad Bruins team. He did lead the team in sacks in 2018, so the talent is there. He just needs to be put in a better situation.
Round 7, Pick 222: Kohl Levao, C, Hawaii
The Giants just need more bodies on the offensive line, and the big Hawaiian could be of great value in the final round of the NFL Draft. The man nicknamed “Big Money” will look to start small in the NFL. He gives the Giants some depth on the offensive line with upside to one day make some noise.
