Adam Trautman (Dayton)

Small school Dayton product Adam Trautman was gaining some steam to be in consideration as one of the first three tight ends off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had a strong Senior Bowl week, and could have cemented his stock as one of the top tight ends in this year’s rookie class with a strong combine. He performed well in the agility drills, but his poor straight line speed has put his potential draft grade in flux. He still has a chance to go late in the third round, but he is likely now viewed as more of a day three project after timing at 4.8 in the 40 yard dash. He was always going to have to make the tough transition from an FCS school to the NFL, but his poor speed may make his acclimation process even more arduous.

Harrison Bryant (Florida Atlantic)

Harrison Bryant was in the mix along with Cole Kmet to be one the first tight ends off the board, but disappointed with 4.73 40 that was a tad slower than many expected from a tight end that appeared to have good game speed. While Bryant did not bomb the combine on a whole, as he looked solid in the receiving drills, he was poor in the bench press, the three cone drill, and the broad jump. He is still in the mix to be one of the first tight ends off of the board, but he is not as good of an athlete as many may have hoped. Bryant is still a good tight end, however he may now be drafted later than many, including the NFL’s draft advisory committee had projected.
