Jeffrey Okudah. 3. player. 50. . Cornerback. Detroit Lions

Instead of sitting out the on-field drills at the Combine, Ohio State’s Jeffrey Okudah decided to participate, and put together a solid day on Sunday. Heading into the draft, there is little doubt that he is going to be a top-5 pick, and the Detroit Lions are going to have an immediate need at the position if Darius Slay is traded.

Okudah is a special talent, and in a year that is make or break for head coach Matt Patricia, he has to fill the likely hole left by Slay this offseason. For the Lions, they will have a healthy Matthew Stafford back in 2020, which is going to significantly upgrade the offense, so making sure to stay solid on defense has to be a priority this offseason.

The Lions play in a tough division, and have to deal with the likes of Kirk Cousins and Aaron Rodgers twice a season. They cannot afford to go into next season weakened in the defensive backfield, and in Okudah, they get not only the best cornerback in this draft class, but the best defensive back as well.

New York Giants. Isaiah Simmons. 4. player. 31. . Linebacker/Safety

The New York Giants are an interesting team to watch during the draft, as their head coach apparently stated that no player has a job right now. Yes, that must include guys like Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, their previous first round picks who are supposed to be the cornerstones of this offense.

While Giants fans are hoping that is “coach-speak,” one thing is for sure, the Giants are a team that could go a number of different ways this April. They could trade down, something general manager Dave Gettleman has never done, or they could stay at No. 4, and pick the best player available, which is what Gettleman recently said.

With that said, the best player available here is Isaiah Simmons, a do-everything defensive player from Clemson who ran a sub-4.4 40-yard dash as a linebacker at the Combine. This kid can play all over the field, is solid in coverage, can flat out tackle, and for the Giants, who have an atrocious defensive unit, he would be the best-case scenario.
