DraftKings NBA picks March 4: Always look on the Whiteside of life
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA centers:
Best Bets:
Hassan Whiteside ($9,500): Whiteside abused the Wizards in the first meeting, piling on 61.75 DraftKings points in 33 minutes. This Wizards front is likely worse than it was then. Whiteside might be my favorite play of the night. He should totally dominate here unless this is a blowout.
Zion Williamson ($8,000): Zion extended his record for consecutive 20+ point games by a teenager when he put up 25 actual points against Minnesota. That’s 11 straight. Dallas isn’t stopping this train. Don’t write Zion’s streak in ink just yet. This streak isn’t ending anytime soon.
Honorable Mention:
Jonas Valanciunas ($7,800): Great things happen when the Grizzlies give Jonas minutes. If he plays the 30 minutes per game that he has averaged with Clarke and JJJ out, Jonas could break the slate. He mauled Brooklyn for 44.75 DraftKings points in just 19 minutes in the first meeting. I’ll be running Jonas and Whiteside together in several lineups tonight.
Larry Nance ($6,500): If Tatum is out, this is a huge opportunity for Nance. He’ll get good minutes with Drummond out and Thompson still questionable. I don’t know that I trust Love enough, but I do with Nance at a cheaper price. I’m warming up to a Cleveland stack. I will withhold my final decision until I see Boston’s final injury report.
Dark Horses:
Rui Hachimura ($5,400): Whiteside is a strong defender, but Rui looks cheap. He has at least 26 DraftKings points in three straight and seven of the last ten. There’s enough upside here to use him. The Wizards still seem to be willing to use him about 30 minutes per game. Sit back and enjoy the output.
Naz Reid ($5,100): Reid had his best game of his career last night with 46.5 DraftKings points on the Pelicans. This is another smash spot for Reid against a Bulls front that is trying to get healthy. Foul trouble has limited Reid at times, but the upside here makes him worth the risk.
