New York Jets full 2020 NFL mock draft
Second Round
The Jets’ biggest need is the offensive line, but their second-most important issue is finding weapons for Sam Darnold. With Chris Herndon and Quincy Enunwa missing most of the season due to injury, Darnold really only had Robby Anderson and Jamison Crowder to work with.
Anderson and Darnold were clicking by the end of the season, but it is unclear if the Jets will pay full market value to keep Anderson in free agency. Even if the Jets do retain Anderson, they need more reliable pass catchers for Darnold.
The receiver position is one of the deepest in this class, so expect the Jets to take multiple wideouts over the course of the draft. We’ll give New York its first receiver here, where they grab Michael Pittman Jr out of USC.
Pittman is a big receiver, checking in at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, and he was incredibly productive at USC. In his senior year for the Trojans, Pittman caught 101 passes for 1,275 yards and 11 touchdowns.
The Jets would love to get a big-bodied receiver like that to help out Sam Darnold on third downs and in the red zone. Darnold also threw passes to Pittman at USC for two years and has raved about him, so that familiarity should help speed up Pittman’s adjustment to NFL life.
