DraftKings NBA picks March 7: Curry messes up your night
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings NBA centers:
Best Bets:
Nikola Jokic ($9,400): This is not a great spot for Jokic unless both Drummond and Thompson are out again. If Thompson plays, I still think Jokic is in a good spot. If he ends up tangling with Drummond, I like this less. Still, we know that Jokic is always less assertive in games where he doesn’t need to be. That will likly be his fate again tonight.
Hassan Whiteside ($8,900): Whiteside keeps dropping 50’s all over the place. He has that potential against the Kings, but he has had three pedestrian games against them. Why? Mostly because the games got out of hand. If Whiteside plays 35 minutes again, he’ll break the slate. If this is a blowout, we’ll be disappointed at this price.
Honorable Mention:
Jonas Valanciunas ($7,300): Jonas racked up 38.25 DraftKings points agianst the Hawks on Monday, but played just 25 minutes as the Grizzlies blew them off the court. That’s always the risk using guys against Atlanta. Whatever this ends up being, Jonas should get us 5x value at the very least. You never know what Atlanta’s going to put forth.
Al Horford ($6,600): Horford is putting up strong numbers as the starting center for Philly. His days of massive stat lines are over, but he can still hold his own playing over 30 minutes per game. This is not a great matchup against the Warriors. Or is it? Draymond, if he plays, will have to work over Harris. Horford gets Chriss. There is solid upside here.
Dark Horses:
Marquese Chriss ($5,900): I don’t like this a whole lot with Chriss having to deal with Horford, but he has been putting up strong numbers no matter who he plays. You could move down to Dieng if you aren’t comfortable with Chriss, but remember that Dieng didn’t play much against the Hawks until the game was out of hand.
Harry Giles ($4,400): We all saw what minimum priced Aron Baynes did to Whiteside and Portland last night, right? The difference is that Baynes didn’t have to split up his production. Giles will split with Len. I like Giles a lot more here, but you can bet on Len poaching some of his value. Maybe even enough to make Len worth a look.
