The 2020 Big 12 Tournament bracket is set with Kansas at No. 1 but when you fill out your printable bracket, will they be the winners in Kansas City?
After relinquishing their hold on the conference a season ago, Bill Self‘s Kansas Jayhawks regained control once again as they will now enter the 2020 Big 12 Tournament as the No. 1 seed. Led by Devon Dotson and Udoka Azubuike, Kansas’ 17-1 record in the conference gave them a two-game lead over Jared Butler and the No. 2 seeded Baylor Bears.
While the top two seeds in the 2020 Big 12 Tournament and, subsequently, the two teams who will wait for their quarterfinal matchups to be determined by the first round games on Wednesday, March 11 from the Sprint Center in Kansas City, the teams behind them were in quite a logjam for seeding.
The Oklahoma Sooners, Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders and West Virginia Mountaineers all finished conference play with a 9-9 record. However, the seeding played out as listed from No. 3-6, meaning that Oklahoma has, essentially, the “easiest” path to potentially winning the conference tournament and punching an automatic bid to March Madness.
Though Kansas and Baylor were clearly the cream of the crop, this is a stout overall conference this season with plenty of upsets potentially in order — especially with Chris Beard’s Texas Tech that played well down the stretch and made the National Championship Game a year ago as the No. 5 seed.

From Dotson to Butler to Kristian Doolittle to Jahmi’us Ramsey, there’s no shortage of star power in the Big 12 Tournament, meaning that anything can happen when the tourney tips off on Wednesday with Iowa State facing Oklahoma State. Kansas is the safe pick, to be sure — but where’s the fun in playing it safe when filling out your brackets?
