14. S Anthony Harris

After years of struggling to find a viable running mate for Harrison Smith, the Vikings gave Harris a full opportunity this year (83 percent of the defensive snaps in 14 games). All he did was tie for the league with six interceptions, tallying 11 pass breakups and register 60 total tackles during the regular season. Then he added a key interception of Drew Brees in the playoff win over the New Orleans Saints.

Pro Football Focus was very high on Harris’ work this year, grading him out as the No. 2 safety in the league.

Harris went undrafted in 2015, so he has come out nowhere to become one of the NFL’s top ball-hawks. He also led the country in interceptions in 2013 at Virginia with eight, so his nose for the ball is nothing new for people who remembered his college career. A torn labrum in his shoulder was discovered before the 2015 Senior Bowl, limiting his ability to work out pre-draft and leading to him going unselected that April.

Harris made himself a lot of money last season, and with Justin Simmons likely to be franchise tagged by the Denver Broncos he’s left as pretty clearly the No. 1 safety out there in free agency.
