Miami Dolphins: RB Melvin Gordon (Los Angeles Chargers)

It was a club that thought that many thought wasn’t interested in winning a game in 2019.  And if you watched the Miami Dolphins play football early in the season, it would have been hard to convince anyone otherwise. But lo and behold, the Brian Flores Era in South Florida was highlighted by a strong finish. A 0-7 start was followed by five victories in its final nine outings – including surprising wins over the playoff-bound Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots – the latter in Foxborough in Week 17.

Still, this was a 5-11 club that has plenty of room for improvement. Armed with a slew of draft choices this April, including three first-round selections, these ‘Fins could look remarkably different this summer.

One aspect that needs to be upgraded is the ground attack. Miami ranked dead last in the league in rushing – averaging a dismal 72.3 yards per contest. Ageless quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ran for 243 yards and led the club in this category.

Armed with plenty of cap room, the Dolphins could and perhaps should make a serious run at five-year pro Melvin Gordon. In 67 regular-season outings with the Chargers have added up to 6,113 yards from scrimmage and 47 touchdowns. The two-time Pro Bowler should have plenty left in the tank after a shortened 2019 campaign.
