Peter’s season of The Bachelor was all buildup with no payoff

Peter’s season of The Bachelor was intense from start to finish. But was this season of The Bachelor actually good?

The Bachelor is many viewers’ guilty pleasure. Millions of people love watching women fight and we love to see the drama unfold. But where’s the line curiosity and interest? Was Peter’s season of The Bachelor actually good or did we just want to know how an unspoiled season ended?

Many have said that Peter’s season of The Bachelor hasn’t been as good as seasons in the past. No one liked the women, and there didn’t seem to be one stand out or one front runner that actually had good chemistry with Peter.

On top of that, Peter wasn’t the most interesting lead we’ve ever had. It’s been a few weeks since we first saw the preview for the finale. With Peter’s mom crying and begging him to “bring her home” we really thought that this finale would be as unexpected as everyone was making it out to be.

For the first time, Reality Steve didn’t spoil the ending (until very recently) and most of us went into the finale completely blind. Even he wasn’t 100 percent confident what exactly was going to happen at the end. The buildup that went into making the last two episodes look like they were a big deal was intense. Bachelor Nation Twitter has been blowing up for weeks with guesses of who Peter was going to end up with and what exactly was going to go down.

Yet, the ending still felt pretty anticlimactic. The best part was watching Hannah Ann go off on Peter for how he treated her. Even if you weren’t a Hannah Ann stan before the finale, it probably changed your opinion of her.

Peter’s season seemed to be mostly buildup with no pay off. He didn’t really seem to connect with any of the women (despite being in love with all three at the end) and most of the women were either boring or dramatic.

Kelsey definitely brought her share of drama alongside Tammy, Alayah, and Victoria P. And we of course cannot forget Victoria F. who cried and stormed away more times than we can probably count.

That left us with the final two women, Madison and Hannah Ann. Despite the fact that everyone was intrigued for the finale, specifically because no one knew the true ending, it was kind of boring. On top of being boring, it was very cringe-y.

After watching Peter propose to Hannah Ann, break up with Hannah Ann, and then do nothing to reconnect with Madison, it kind of felt like he didn’t deserve her. Madison wasn’t really chasing him down either, Chris Harrison had to come to her door to tell her to come back. It felt like neither of them were really going to do anything about it on their own.

We can’t forget that Peter’s mom basically couldn’t stand Madison and begged Peter to pick Hannah Ann. You can’t imagine how she must have felt seeing her son break Hannah Ann’s heart.

Watching Peter’s mom, Barb, call out Madison on live television was insanely hard to watch, and it was even harder to watch Peter and Madison react to the accusations. Madison didn’t really want to rehash the past, and Peter didn’t want to get in the middle of things.

Sure, the season was full of drama, and the relationships were sort of interesting, but the season wasn’t actually good. We were all invested because we wanted to know about the wild ending, but that doesn’t mean that Peter’s season was good.

They’re going to have to work on casting better (and a more interesting bachelor) if they want to have a better season next year. We can’t wait to get back to the seasons of The Bachelor, where the bachelor actually ends up with the first woman he proposes to.
