Valencia face Atalanta at Mestalla on Tuesday, March 10. Here’s all the info you need to watch this Champions League match.

Valencia host Atalanta at the Mestalla in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup. Atalanta enter the second leg holding a commanding 4-1 lead. While that lead is comfortable, over the past few seasons, several teams have been able to overcome large deficits and advance.

Valencia need to find a way to make up their three-goal deficit. That will be quite a challenge for the Bats. Valencia have struggled over recent weeks in La Liga. Over their last five La Liga games, Valencia have won only one game and picked up five of a possible 15 points. The Bats have conceded more goals than they have scored in La Liga. That is not a good combination for a club that will likely have to keep a clean sheet if they have any hopes of advancing. Scoring goals will also be a challenge for Valencia. Striker Maxi Gomez will miss the game with a foot injury, sidelining the Bats’ second-highest scorer. Rodrigo and Kevin Gameiro will have to step up without Gomez.

Atalanta are fourth in Serie A this season and are unbeaten in their last five domestic games, picking up 13 points. With a three-goal lead, Atalanta could opt to sit back, defend and hope to protect their lead. However, that style of play would go against the one manager Gian Piero Gasperini has used since taking over the club in June 2016. Since Gasperini likes to be aggressive and attack, he will likely set his team up to score an away goal and crush any hopes that Valencia have. Josip Ilicic, Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata have combined for 43 goals in all competitions this season.
