Detroit Lions. Jeffrey Okudah. 5. player. 50. . Cornerback

The Detroit Lions hit the lottery in this mock draft, as they trade back two spots, get the guy they should have drafted at No. 3 in the process, and add a second first-round pick. This is a team that is getting a healthy Matthew Stafford back in 2020, and that should mean more wins, but only if they continue to add to the defense.

Jeffrey Okudah is the unquestioned top cornerback in this draft class, and based on what we are hearing out of Detroit, they are going to need a new CB1. Darius Slay is requesting a trade out of the Motor City, and if they do decide to move on from him, they are going to need someone who can step in and help out immediately.

For the Lions, the only cornerback in this draft class who can do that is Okudah, and in a division that faces Aaron Rodgers twice a year, they cannot afford to get weaker on that side of the ball this offseason. This could be Matt Patricia’s last stand as head coach, so expect him to pull out all the stops to make it work in 2020.

player. 13. . Quarterback. Los Angeles Chargers. Justin Herbert. 6

The Los Angeles Chargers should be in the market for  Tom Brady, as the six-time Super Bowl champion is looking to make an impact in Hollywood. Even if the Chargers do win the Brady Sweepstakes this offseason, they should continue to target a long-term solution at the position in the draft.

By drafting Justin Herbert, arguably the most NFL-ready quarterback in this draft class,  the Chargers will ensure they will be solid at the quarterback position for years to come. He could come in, learn under the best to ever do it for two  years, and then take over as the face of the franchise.

The only problem here is that if Brady is signed by the Chargers, he is going to expect that the team utilizes this early on pick on one of the elite left tackles in this draft class. If that happens, all bets are off, and Herbert could find himself landing a pick later with the Carolina Panthers, who need a solution after Cam Newton is done.
