The Falcon and the Winter Soldier teases Zemo as an unlikely ally

A twist is coming for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series on Disney+, and it may come from the help of an old enemy.
New updates are coming in about Daniel Brühl’s Marvel character Zemo, who will appear in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. According to ComicBook, new footage from a trailer was revealed during Disney’s shareholder meeting today, and it happens to shed some light on why the old villain is resurfacing in this series.
We last saw Zemo as the evil instigator in Captain America: Civil War. Not only had he learned to program Bucky to become a killing machine, but he also incited the incident at the U.N. that killed T’Challa’s father. Bucky and Zemo clearly have some bad blood between them, as it was Bucky who was originally blamed for Zemo’s evil doing. This time, it looks like the two will have to put all that behind them now to fight for the safety of the country or even the world.
Both ComicBook and Laughing Place have descriptions of the footage, and one Redditor was able to share Laughing Place’s description to r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers, which you can read down below.

Here, it looks like the big problem the crew will have to fight against is the re-emergence of the super-soldier serum. We’ve discussed this already before, but the serum looks like it’s going to play a huge role in the MCU moving forward, and this is just one more bit of evidence to confirm it. Rumors have already mentioned that with the casting of Carl Lumbly, it’s likely that he’ll play the comic book character Isaiah Bradley — another soldier who was given the serum and once became Captain America.
With Isaiah Bradley in the mix, the crew will likely find out more about the dark past involving this serum, and they’ll have to find out who’s in charge of everything now. The prime suspect is Thaddeus Ross, who was in charge of re-starting the serum experiments along with Bruce Banner, and it may even result in himself turning into the Red Hulk at some point (though not necessarily in this series). There may even be a bigger twist to who’s behind it, but that’s for us to find out.
On top of that, some even think that U.S. Agent (the new Captain America mentioned in the description), will also be told to take the serum. Though, for obvious reasons, it isn’t clear if that’s something he’ll take or if he’ll do the right thing and turn it down.
Unfortunately, overseas production for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is on pause right now. Sebastian Stan shared on Instagram today that they had to stop filming in Prague. Stan captioned his post, writing: “We’ve been shooting #TheFalconAndTheWinterSoldier and experiencing one of the most beautiful cities in the world filled with the most wonderful and welcoming people. Now we are being sent home.”
With The Falcon and the Winter Soldier having no set date outside of its August 2020 home, there’s no telling if this will severely delay the show’s release date.
